A message for family member/carer or friend of someone who experiences challenges to their mental health. As an organization committed to providing peer advocacy exclusively to people experiencing challenges to their mental health PAMH does not provide support to family members/carers or friends of someone who experiences challenges to their mental health. However, we do sympathize, recognizing the need for your own support to help relieve related struggles and personal challenges.
In the event family members/carers contact PAMH, we will often sign post to more appropriate organizations that can support you.
You will find a list of organizations that we typically refer family members/carers or friends to below. Each organization provides their own network of supports which they will discuss with you.
If you are a family member/carer or friend of someone who experiences challenges to their mental health and you contact us you will also need to be aware of the following: i) That we operate on a self-referral basis ii) That we will not engage with your friend or loved one without their consent iii) When your friend or loved one engages with PAMH peer advocacy services we are bound by confidentiality. We are therefore unable to share information with you on our conversations and interactions with your friend or loved one without permission or instruction.
We encourage family members/carers or friends of people who experience challenges to their mental health to acknowledge, understand and be fully aware of our services before contacting us.
